An African lion is a large, powerful predator that lives in Africa. It's a big cat, like a tiger or a house cat, but much bigger. Lions are known as the "king of the jungle" because of their impressive appearance and their place at the top of the food chain in the savannah. Male lions often have a long, brown mane around their head. Lions live in groups called prides. They hunt together for other animals such as zebras, antelopes, and wildebeest.
